I asked God to take away my pride.
God said, NO.
It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.
(나는 하나님께 나의 나쁜 습관을 없애달라고 기도했다.
God said, NO.
나쁜 습관은 내가 없애주는 것이 아니라 네가 포기하는 것이다.)
I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said, NO.
His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary
(나는 하나님께 나의 장애아를 완벽하게 고쳐달라고 기도했다.
God said, NO.
그의 영혼은 완벽하단다. 그의 몸은 잠깐이란다.)
I asked God to grant me patience.
God said, NO.
Patience is a by product of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is learned.
(나는 하나님께 인내를 달라고 기도했다.
God said, NO.

I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you.

I asked God to make my spirit grow, and God said “No.” He said I must grow on my own,
but he will prune me to make me faithful.
(하나님께 내 영혼을 성장시켜 달라고 기도했다.
God said, NO.
스스로 자라야 한단다. 그러나 너를 다듬어 신실하게 해주겠다)
I asked God if he loved me, and God said “Yes.” He gave me his only Son who died
for me, and I will be in heaven someday because I believe.
(나를 사랑하시느냐고 물었다.
God said, YES.
외아들을 주어서 너를 위해 죽게 하였고, 너도 언젠가는 믿음으로 하늘나라에 있게 되겠지.)
I asked God to help me love others as much as he loves me, and God said,
“Ah, finally, you have the idea!”
(주님이 나를 사랑하시는 만큼 남들을 사랑할 수 있도록 해달라고 기도했다
하나님께서 대답하셨다.
“아, 이제야 네가 뭘 좀 아는구나!”)
